The interior minister and deputy prime cast their vote in the historic election in Somalia.

The Somalia federal minister of interior, Ali Hoosh, has cast his vote in the Shangani district.

The interior minister urged the residents to participate in the historic polls, which he termed a right and a duty. He appealed to the public to exercise their constitutional right and elect leaders who will serve their rights.

Earlier on, the deputy prime minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Salah Jama, was among hundreds of residents of the capital waiting in the queue to cast his vote in Mogadishu.

The deputy prime minister was thankful to have witnessed a historic day unfold in Somalia.

“For the first time in more than a century, we have reclaimed our constitutional right to choose our leadership. Seeing young and old waiting patiently to exercise their mandate is a statement to the resilience of our spirit and hunger for stable democracy,” he said.
