MOGADISHU-(Raxanreeb Online) — Youth affiliated with the Banaadir Regional Administration have begun preparations for a planned demonstration in support of Turkey, holding their first organizing meeting in Mogadishu, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The planned rally follows mounting pressure on the Somali federal government over an airstrike in Dolow District, Gedo Region, which has sparked criticism and protests in recent days.

The demonstration is expected to take place in Mogadishu in the coming days, with members of the federal cabinet and officials from the Banaadir Regional Administration expected to participate.

Sources told Raxanreeb Online that Banaadir Governor Muungaab was instructed to organize demonstrations in support of Turkey and in response to recent protests in Jubaland opposing the federal government’s actions.

The planned mobilization comes amid heightened tensions between the federal government and Jubaland over the security situation in Gedo and the government’s handling of recent developments in the region.
