An explosion, believed to be caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), struck a water tanker owned by the Puntland Marine Police Force (PMPF) in the outskirts of Bosaso on Wednesday.
The attack occurred on the road on the outskirts of the port town of Bosaso, resulting in the destruction of the tanker.
Fortunately, two soldiers who were on the tanker managed to escape unharmed.
The PMPF, which receives training and support from the UAE government, is primarily tasked with combating piracy along the coast of Puntland State in Somalia.
This latest explosion follows closely on the heels of another incident that claimed at least three lives.
On Tuesday, a restaurant was targeted in a bombing, where members of the Puntland security forces were known to gather for the traditional practice of chewing khat (mira).
It is noteworthy that no individual or group has claimed responsibility for these attacks. Despite the lack of claims, it’s worth mentioning that extremist groups such as Al-Shabaab and ISIS have taken responsibility for similar incidents in the past.
