An explosion in Mogadishu’s Karaan district, Banadir region, has led to multiple civilian casualties and significant damage to a local business. The attack, reportedly caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), struck a café in the Ali Gedi neighborhood where civilians were gathered.
According to local witnesses, at least five individuals lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries from the blast. The café, owned by local entrepreneurs, was severely damaged in the explosion.
Security forces arrived promptly at the scene, securing the area and conducting investigations. This incident is part of a recent escalation in violence in Mogadishu, which has seen a series of targeted attacks, including similar explosions and assassinations carried out by Al-Shabaab militants.
The bombing follows a recent suicide attack targeting a café near Blue Sky School, resulting in casualties among both civilians and security personnel. Authorities continue to intensify security measures and investigate these incidents as they work to safeguard residents amid rising threats.
