The leaders of Galmudug and Puntland reached a new agreement in the city of Gaalkacyo following intense discussions. The talks took place in northern Gaalkacyo, the capital of Mudug region, and were chaired by Galmudug President Ahmed Qoor Qoor and Puntland President Said Deni. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two administrations.
The joint meeting, led by both presidents, resulted in several significant decisions aimed at strengthening the partnership between Galmudug and Puntland. Key areas of focus included security cooperation, peacebuilding efforts, trade, economic development, and social integration between the two regions.
The agreement included the following four key points: strengthening cooperation in security, peacebuilding, trade, economic development, and social integration; holding ministerial-level meetings every three months to ensure progress on ongoing initiatives; implementing development projects in areas affected by conflict to help communities recover; and conducting a joint study on water management in Gaalkacyo.
Both administrations expressed their commitment to working together to address challenges and promote stability in the region, ensuring that the progress achieved during the talks will lead to tangible improvements for their communities.
