MOGADISHU — Heavy rains that fell across Mogadishu for several hours on Wednesday disrupted traffic and slowed the movement of pedestrians and vehicles in several parts of the capital.

Several major roads were affected by significant water accumulation, making it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to move through the city. Traffic congestion was reported on some roads as commuters faced challenges caused by the heavy rainfall and flooded streets.

The impact of the rain also extended to key areas of the capital, including roads near Aden Adde International Airport, as well as schools and workplaces. Many residents experienced difficulties reaching their educational institutions and places of work as normal.

With the rain continuing, concerns have grown that prolonged rainfall could lead to further water accumulation and worsen conditions on major roads.

Residents have been urged to exercise caution, particularly when traveling through areas affected by standing water and flooding.

Government authorities and municipal officials have been called upon to respond swiftly, particularly in areas where flooding has blocked major roads, in order to restore access and ease movement across the capital.
