MP Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi Cirow was denied permission to travel from Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport to Baidoa, the interim capital of South West State. The lawmaker was informed of the restriction upon his arrival at the airport, preventing him from boarding his flight.
This incident mirrors a recent case involving MP Sareedo, another representative from the South West State, who was also stopped from departing the airport. These actions raise questions about travel freedoms, especially as reports suggested that tensions between Villa Somalia and the South West State had been recently resolved.
The restriction on MPs’ movements could signal underlying issues despite the proclaimed end of the dispute, suggesting that challenges still exist between the federal government and regional administrations.
