The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has successfully foiled a planned Al-Shabaab operation in Mogadishu, detaining five suspects and seizing a substantial cache of weapons and explosive devices. The operation, carried out after receiving preemptive intelligence, involved multiple coordinated raids across various residences in the Somali capital.
Officials revealed that the raids were part of NISA’s broader effort to dismantle Al-Shabaab networks within the city, aiming to prevent attacks targeting civilians and military installations. Among the seized items were firearms and materials intended for constructing explosive devices. Authorities believe these were aimed at destabilizing key areas in Mogadishu.
This operation deals a significant blow to Al-Shabaab’s infrastructure in the region, highlighting NISA’s growing intelligence capabilities. The suspects are currently being interrogated as investigations continue, with further details expected soon.
