SNA Commander Conducts First Official Inspection Visit to Waajid

The Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, has carried out an official inspection visit to front-line positions held by government forces in Waajid, in the Bakool region.

The delegation was received in Waajid by senior officers of the Somali National Army, who briefed the Commander on the prevailing security situation and recent operational gains against insurgent groups. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination, accelerate military operations, and sustain pressure on armed militants.

During his engagement with troops, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud called for the intensification of operations aimed at dismantling insurgent networks, stressing the need for continued discipline, operational effectiveness, and unity of command. He also commended the forces for their resilience and progress achieved under challenging conditions.

In parallel, the Commander held consultations with traditional elders in Waajid, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in consolidating security gains and supporting stabilisation initiatives.

Military officials indicated that the visit represents the first time a serving Commander of the Somali National Army has undertaken an operational inspection in Waajid, reflecting the growing strategic significance of the area within the broader security landscape.
