Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) Somalia’s Minister of Information, Da’uud Aweys, addressed the nation today in a press conference held in Mogadishu, shedding light on the security situation in the capital and the ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab across the country.

Speaking on key security measures, Minister Aweys announced that authorities have imposed strict restrictions on the movement of weapons and combat vehicles within the perimeter of Mogadishu’s airport. He emphasized that security forces have been instructed to ensure full compliance with this directive, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining stability in the city.

“It is unacceptable to misuse media platforms or spread falsehoods—whether intentionally or unintentionally—through social media. Those caught engaging in such activities will be held accountable under the law, including facing prosecution in court,” Minister Aweys stated firmly.

Beyond security, the minister reaffirmed the Somali government’s unwavering commitment to intensifying military operations against Al-Shabaab. He urged citizens living in recently liberated areas to actively support security forces and local authorities in their efforts to restore lasting peace and stability.
