Somali Police Issue New Directives for Businesses and Foreign Workers in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia [SMN] – The Somali Police Force has issued new directives targeting businesses, companies, and foreign workers operating in the country, following a significant increase in their presence in Mogadishu in recent months.

Police spokesperson Gaashaanle Abdifitah announced that all foreign workers in Somalia are now required to obtain a criminal clearance certificate from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). This measure aims to prevent security threats, particularly the infiltration of extremist groups.

Additionally, Somali businesses engaged in import and export activities must also secure CID-issued clearance certificates confirming their legal compliance. Authorities emphasize that this requirement applies to all commercial entities operating in the country.

The Somali Police Command stated that these measures are designed to enhance security in the capital and nationwide. Officials warned that non-compliance with the new directives would result in serious consequences.
