Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) — High-level consultative meetings are underway in Mogadishu between leaders of the Federal Government of Somalia and members of the opposition, focusing on key national issues including elections, constitutional matters, security, and the continuation of structured dialogue between the two sides.
The talks, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday, were temporarily suspended on Friday to allow both parties to conduct internal consultations on critical matters under discussion. Sources close to the meeting indicated that the pause was intended to give each side time to reflect on the contentious issues that have dominated the negotiations.
A follow-up meeting was scheduled to take place today at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu, where representatives were expected to resume discussions and advance the dialogue.
However, emerging reports suggest that the meeting has been postponed to enable further consultations by both Federal Government and opposition leaders, as each side seeks to consolidate and strengthen its respective positions on the issues it considers most significant.
