MOGADISHU,— Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has received Safiya Macallin Abdulle Omar and her son, Mohamed Issa Dahir, at his office in Mogadishu following Mohamed’s achievement of securing first place nationwide in this year’s National Secondary School Examination.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated Mohamed on his exceptional academic performance and commended his mother for the dedication, perseverance and support she provided throughout his education.

Prime Minister Barre said Mohamed’s success reflected not only his own determination and hard work, but also the important role played by his mother in his upbringing and academic development. He described Safiya’s efforts as an example of the contribution Somali parents can make to the educational success of their children.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, Barre reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to education and to equipping Somali young people with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to the country’s development.

“Achieving first place in a competitive national examination is no small accomplishment. It is the result of sustained effort, determination and the support you received from your mother,” the Prime Minister said. He noted that Mohamed’s achievement demonstrated how commitment and strong parental support can enable students to excel, even when others may have access to greater opportunities.

In recognition of Safiya’s commitment to her son’s upbringing and education, the Prime Minister awarded her a permanent position within the Federal Government of Somalia.

Mohamed, meanwhile, was awarded a fully funded scholarship by the Federal Government, which will enable him to continue his higher education at an institution and destination of his choice.

The awards are part of the government’s broader effort to recognise academic excellence, encourage high-performing students and highlight the role of families in strengthening education and developing Somalia’s next generation.
