Opposition leaders, headed by former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, are set to hold a dinner meeting tonight with members of both houses of Parliament representing the Hawiye clan.
Sources indicate that the meeting will bring together a mix of opposition and pro-government lawmakers, as part of a broader consultative effort by the opposition to engage Hawiye representatives on the country’s current political situation.
It remains uncertain whether legislators closely aligned with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will attend. Their potential absence follows a similar development at a meeting held yesterday between opposition figures and traditional elders, where elders from the President’s clan did not participate.
The meeting comes amid ongoing political consultations and could signal shifting dynamics within key political constituencies.
