The Banadir Regional Court on Tuesday concluded hearings in the case against Sacdiya Bajaaj, who is facing charges related to alleged public incitement, with the court’s verdict now pending.

The nearly three-hour session included submissions from the prosecution, questioning of the defendant, and arguments presented by Sacdiya Bajaaj’s defence lawyers.

Banadir Regional Court Chairman Salah Dabaan declared the hearings formally closed, saying the court would announce at a later date when its final ruling will be delivered.

Speaking after the hearing, Sacdiya Bajaaj’s defence lawyer, Advocate Khalane, said all stages of the trial had been completed and that the defence is now awaiting the court’s decision. He maintained that the prosecution had failed to present evidence or witnesses to substantiate the charges.

“There is no evidence or witness testimony supporting the allegations against Sacdiya Bajaaj,” Advocate Khalane said.

The court had recently returned the case file to the prosecution, instructing it to complete or strengthen the charges and supporting evidence.

Sacdiya Bajaaj, who has been detained by the Federal Government of Somalia for 74 days, appeared once again before the Banadir Regional Court as the hearing phase of the case came to an end.
