KISMAYO,— The Jubbaland administration has accused the Federal Government of Somalia of fuelling conflict in Puntland following armed clashes and security operations reported in Galkayo, Mudug region.
In a statement issued by the Jubbaland Presidency, the administration described the developments as deeply concerning and criticised the alleged use of Somali National Army personnel and military equipment in conflicts taking place in otherwise peaceful areas.
Jubbaland said national military resources should be directed towards ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab rather than being used in confrontations that could destabilise communities and deepen political tensions.
The administration warned that such actions threaten peace, stability and peaceful coexistence, while potentially undermining years of efforts to restore security and promote development in Galkayo.
Jubbaland also expressed solidarity with the Puntland government and its people, commending their efforts to maintain security and stability across the region.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions between the Federal Government and Puntland after security operations and armed confrontations took place in Galkayo on Wednesday. The circumstances surrounding the clashes and the identities of all forces involved have not yet been independently verified.
