A ship carrying weapons for the Somali government has started unloading at the Mogadishu port, with the shipment being moved to federal armories. This latest delivery is part of ongoing support from countries aiding Somalia’s security efforts, including contributions from Egypt. Previous weapon shipments remain unaccounted for in terms of their usage.
All port operations have been temporarily halted for four days, and civilian staff have been sent home. Security has also been tightened on the route between the port and the Ministry of Defense, with certain areas closed to civilian traffic.
Recently, Somalia also received attack helicopters and tanks as part of international military assistance.
