Mogadishu — Somali security authorities have arrested Abdikarim Abdullahi Idle, 42, in Mogadishu, in connection with a major U.S. fraud investigation linked to the Feeding Our Future child nutrition program.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Idle was arrested on June 25, 2026, after allegedly fleeing the United States to avoid prosecution. U.S. prosecutors accuse him of playing a central role in a large-scale fraud scheme involving federal child nutrition funds.

The indictment alleges that Idle, who was involved in the program’s operations, accepted bribes and kickbacks in exchange for approving fraudulent meal sites. These sites allegedly submitted false claims stating that they were providing daily meals to thousands of children under the U.S. federal Child Nutrition Program.

Prosecutors further allege that Idle established multiple companies and entities under different names to submit false claims and move fraud proceeds. The U.S. Department of Justice said more than $5 million in alleged proceeds were deposited into bank accounts linked to companies associated with him.

U.S. authorities have described the Feeding Our Future case as one of the largest fraud schemes in Minnesota’s history. Officials said Idle’s arrest underscores their commitment to pursuing individuals accused of financial crimes, regardless of where they attempt to evade justice.

Idle is expected to face legal proceedings in connection with the charges brought against him in the United States.
