At least 20 people were killed and many others injured after heavy clan fighting erupted in the Laaso area between Carmale and Daarasalaam in eastern Sanaag, according to local sources.

The clashes, which began on Wednesday and continued late into the night, involved two local clans living in the area. Reports indicate that tensions remain high, raising fears of further violence and additional casualties.

Residents say no formal mediation or intervention efforts have yet been launched to stop the fighting or bring the rival sides together.

Community members are urging traditional elders, regional authorities, and the Somali government to take immediate action to end the conflict and prevent further bloodshed.
