Federal Member of Parliament Ayananshe Yusuf Hussein has announced his resignation from the post of State Minister at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia.
Speaking to the media late last night, the lawmaker confirmed that he had stepped down from the position, citing the ongoing political dispute between the Federal Government and the Puntland State administration.
Ayananshe, whose electoral constituency is in the Bari region of Puntland, stated that his decision was influenced by the political tensions between the Federal Government and the regional administration he represents, emphasizing that his parliamentary seat reflects both the interests of the Somali people and those of Puntland.
“The seat I occupy represents both the Somali people and Puntland. Therefore, I stand with what they accept. I hereby declare that I have resigned from the position of State Minister at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre for the confidence they placed in him by appointing him to the position.
The resignation comes amid escalating political tensions between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Puntland State administration. Recently, the leadership of the Federal Parliament prevented several lawmakers from Puntland from travelling to Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland, further highlighting the strain in relations between the two sides.
