Somali Army Kills 59 Al-Shabaab Militants in Major Offensive

The Somali National Army (SNA) has conducted a series of successful military operations in central Somalia, killing 59 Al-Shabaab militants, according to a statement from the Ministry of Information. The operations targeted key strongholds of the group in the Galgadud and Middle Shabelle regions, specifically around Gerile, Awsweyne, and Hawadley. The Ministry emphasized that the government remains committed to dismantling Al-Shabaab’s network and infrastructure.

Despite the successes, the operations were not without casualties. The government reported the loss of four SNA soldiers in eastern Galgadud due to fierce resistance from the militants. This highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Somali forces as they push to reclaim territories and stabilize the region.

The offensive is part of a broader campaign by the SNA to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s activities, regain control of critical areas, and ensure security for Somali citizens. The fight against Al-Shabaab, which has plagued the country for years, continues to be a significant challenge as the government intensifies efforts to restore peace and stability.
