Somali government forces, in collaboration with local militias and international partners, have initiated a strategic military operation targeting Al-Shabaab strongholds in the Lower Shabelle region, South West State. The operation is currently focused on areas between the city of Marka and Nambar 50, according to reliable sources familiar with the situation.
As part of the ongoing efforts, the Somali forces are conducting extensive security checks along the key road linking Nambar 50 to Marka, the regional capital of Lower Shabelle. These operations aim to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s presence and secure vital transportation routes.
Recent meetings held in Nambar 50 addressed regional security concerns, reflecting the growing coordination between federal forces and local stakeholders. Supported by airstrikes from international allies, Somali forces, alongside the Macawisley militias, have launched a series of well-planned assaults on Al-Shabaab positions. Several areas previously under Al-Shabaab control for decades have been liberated as a result of these operations.
The Somali government, with the backing of local communities, remains committed to intensifying military campaigns to restore peace and security across the region. Leaders and citizens alike have united to bolster support for ongoing efforts to defeat Al-Shabaab and reclaim critical territories.
