Mortar Attacks Hit Mogadishu Districts, Civilians Injured

MOGADISHU (Raxanreeb Online) – Tension gripped parts of Mogadishu on Saturday morning after several mortar shells struck residential areas in the Banaadir region, leaving civilians injured and properties damaged.

According to eyewitnesses, at least three mortar rounds hit separate locations in the Boondheere and Warta Nabadda districts. The origin of the attack remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility so far.

One of the mortars reportedly hit the premises of the National Theatre, injuring a staff member working at the site. In another incident, a civilian home in Boondheere was struck, resulting in damage and reports of injuries, although the exact number remains unconfirmed.

The third shell landed in an open area in Warta Nabadda, wounding two civilians who were nearby at the time.

Security forces have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or ongoing investigations. The attacks have raised concerns among residents about the persistent threat of indirect fire in the capital, even in times of relative calm.
