MOGADISHU— The Federal Government of Somalia has reinforced security measures across Mogadishu following a series of explosions reported in parts of the capital last week, none of which caused casualties.

Security personnel have been increased at checkpoints throughout the city, with officers carrying out more extensive inspections of vehicles and passengers. Additional forces have also been deployed to residential neighbourhoods, where patrols and security searches are underway.

Authorities have further intensified night-time operations across several districts of the Banadir region as part of efforts to prevent further attacks and strengthen security in the capital. The government has not yet released details on the outcome of the operations or confirmed whether any suspects have been detained.

Multiple sources told Raxanreeb that the militarily trained police unit has resumed active security duties and is participating in the ongoing operations across Mogadishu. The unit had previously played a role in maintaining security in the capital.

The heightened security presence comes amid renewed concerns over stability in Mogadishu following the recent explosions and reflects broader efforts by federal authorities to strengthen surveillance, patrols and security controls across the city.
